52nd Senior Women National Handball Championship Was Held At Pavna International School, Aligarh
Organized by the Handball Association of India, in collaboration with Pavna Sports Venture, the 52 nd Senior Women National Handball Championship saw participation of over 26 teams from across the country in the sports complex of Pavna International School, Agra Road, Aligarh, between March 6 to 12. With the oath taking of abiding by the sportsman spirit in every minute of the game, all participants vowed to put their best foot forward to make this game of handball a nationwide success during the Opening Ceremony on March 6.
With the auspicious presence of the IG, Aligarh District, Mr. Shalabh Mathur, as the Chief Guest of the event, along with the Managing Director of Pavna Group, Mr. Swapnil Jain, the event witnessed a renewed fervor for this age-old game, with a focused ambition on making it as prominent and popular a sport as cricket. “Our primary aim is not just to establish this sport in the country, but to make it a worldwide success,” said the host Mr. Jain.
The best selected players from this championship will get the opportunity to play in the Women National Handball League. The Executive Director of National Handball Association and the General Secretary of South Asian Handball Federation, Mr. Anandeshwar Pandey presided over the event to give due encouragement to all the players and motivate them. The spokesperson from Pavna Sports Venture, Ms. Sanchi Wadhwa, added that this championship will see magnanimous participation from 26 teams of Telengana, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar
Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Delhi, Gujarat, West Bengal, Lakshadweep, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Jharkhand, Assam, Manipur, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Daman and Diu, Chandigarh and the Railway Sports Board. With teams winning the championship every day, or missing by a mark, these 6 days saw a roller-coaster of emotions and the best display of the sportsman spirit for a game long-forgotten.
With the final match between Railway Sports Board and Rajasthan on the final day of March 12, the victory kissed the feet of Railway Sports Board with their brilliant performance
keeping the audience not only at the edge of their seats, but blowing their minds off with the fantastic display of strength, stamina and talent. With the great presence of notable personalities from the district of Aligarh, like the Additional Commissioner, State Tax, Dr. Shyam Sundar Tiwari as the Chief Guest, and Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Bamdev Ram Tripathi, along with Deputy Commissioner, State Tax, Mr. Abhishek Tripathi, as the Guests of
Honour, the Closing Ceremony on March 12 was a star-studded show.
Bewildering the audience with a score of 8-22, where Rajasthan fought well in the first half of the match, Railway board showed its magic in the second half, eventually bagging the Champion’s Trophy of the 52 nd Senior Women National Handball Championship. Their dedication and commitment towards the sports was duly credited to the Coach and the Captain of the team, which won thousands of the hearts in the audience.
With the promise to play better, and more strategically, each of the players was congratulated by Mr. Anandeshwar Pandey and Mr. Swapnil Jain and they also added how the upcoming Women Handball League will prove to be an exemplary platform for honing and showcasing their skills of the game.
