Golden Eagles UP becomes the first runner up in the first season of Premier Handball League.
The Handball team from UP which made a million dreams possible fought tooth and nail till
the end in the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium, Jaipur in the Premier Handball League organized in June, 2023. With a total of 6 teams participating in the League matches starting from June 9, Golden Eagles UP has seen several ups and downs during the tenure, with morale of the players rising with every win, and taking a hit with every draw. Players like Harjinder Singh and Bhushan Shinde kept our spirits high even when the opponents tried their best to crush the strategies of Golden Eagles UP.
With the aim to propagate and popularize Handball in India, especially in the state of Uttar
Pradesh, Pavna Group MD and owner of Golden Eagles UP, Mr. Swapnil Jain stuck to the core of the team, encouraging and boosting their spirits with every game, providing them
strategies to win and be persistent in the game. With over 2 draws in the Semi-Finals, the team finally reached the finals by winning against the Telegu Talons. The nail-biting final match between Maharashtra Ironman and Golden Eagles UP kept the audience glued to their seats, where they cheered every single goal and shrunk with a sigh with every miss. Support flew in from every corner of the country for the Golden Eagles UP team, with special cheer from Rinku Singh, the Indian cricketer and also an eminent member who is associated with the owner who flew down to the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium on the day of the finals to show his support. Even after a tremendous fight, the UP team didn’t give up till the last minute with a final scoreboard of 24 for 38 against Maharashtra Ironmen. Sukhvir Singh Brar with his 102 goals and penalty shot efficiency of 78% was declared the Top Goal scorer and the Golden Ball Winner of the League. Following him is Harjinder Panjeta with a penalty shot efficiency of 60% bagging the title of Goal Scoring Dynamo and a total goal of 56. Omid Reza was not far behind with his brilliant strategies and moves to bring the team as the first runner up with 163 saves, and 6 penalty saves.
The first Runner up who won a cheque of Rs, 5,00,000 and a historic performance witnessed
some mind-blowing intensity, thrilling moments of action and fun on the court on the final day. The team which has gone through intensive training and rigorous practice sessions beaming with hope, passion and commitment to the game was coached and nurtured by eminent coach Anup Kaswan and Asst. coach Priyadeep Singh who have dedicated their
heart and soul in encouraging the players to deliver their best in every match.
